A KEIGHLEY-based social enterprise which has provided youngsters with forest school experiences for the past four years is continuing to grow.

Get Out More has appointed a new project manager, Ruth McBain, to help introduce forest schools at three new locations across West and North Yorkshire this year.

She has worked in schools and outdoor learning for more than five years, including helping deliver Get Out More provision for the past two.

Her aim is to help widen the impact of the organisation's work within communities.

She said: "I have a passion for the outdoors, the natural environment, sustainability and one-world living and am keen to share and develop this enthusiasm with others.

"I love working with children, having a positive impact on their lives and enabling them to realise their potential in a way that we all find challenging, rewarding, interesting and enjoyable."

Get Out More managing director, Annie Berrington, said it had been a hugely busy 2015 for the enterprise and this year promised to be equally packed.

"Last year we added extra dates and hours to our holiday forest school programmes in Bingley, Ilkley and Saltaire to cope with soaring demand and launched our first overnight forest school camp," she said.

"We had the busiest summer holidays ever, with 175 hours of activity for 435 children and young people, 11 forest school practitioners and 12 volunteers."

Get Out More reinvests its profits into the community and projects it will support this year include path repairs in Middleton Woods at Ilkley, conservation work by organisations such as the Friends of St Ives, Hirst Wood Regeneration Group and the Friends of Park Wood and a community programme in Cross Roads encouraging more outdoor exploration for children.
