A SCHOOL, judged as requiring improvement two years ago, has now been rated as good.

Ofsted inspectors visited Bradleys Both Primary School in March and found that there had been a considerable improvement in pupils' attainment and progress.

"The determined leadership and vision of the headteacher ensure that an uncompromising drive for excellence is in every area of school life," they reported. "Leaders and governors have dealt rigorously with areas identified as being in need of improvement at the last inspection. Teaching, learning and assessment are good."

They added that pupils made good progress throughout the school, participated enthusiastically in a wide range of clubs and activities and behaved well in lessons and around the school.

"Opportunities for spiritual, moral, social and cultural development are strong and prepare pupils well for life in modern Britain," said the inspectors.

They noted that bullying was rare and pupils were confident that staff would address any problems.

Inspectors said that the school was not yet outstanding because pupils' attainment in writing had not improved as rapidly as reading and mathematics and not all teachers were able to adapt their lessons to take account of progress.

Headteacher Barry Rogers said: "I am so very proud that all the hard work of our whole school family of children, staff, parents, governors and wider community has been recognised in achieving a good inspection report.

"Bradleys Both has improved significantly since the last inspection and is an exciting school to lead. We are keen to ensure that the children's learning is real and purposeful and I am so pleased that our whole school ethos is reflected so well throughout the inspection report."

And Jenette Stark, chairman of governors, added: "I am delighted and very proud that our school is now a good school once again. We have been on an incredible journey together and I want to thank all of the staff, our headteacher, parents and my fellow governors for all their hard work, dedication and loyalty especially over the last few months. But most important of all I want to thank our children who are our greatest ambassadors."
