PARKWOOD Primary School hosted a day-long celebration in honour of the Queen’s 90th birthday.
Pupils and staff dressed up as members of the Royal Family or in red, white and blue in honour of Her Majesty.
During the day there were lots of fun activities, including crown making, creating a card for the queen, flag making, and play-based activity indoors and outside.
The children created a commemorative flower bed with local gardener Steve Thorpe, incorporating a crown and the Queen’s initials.
School head Richard Ballantine said: “At lunchtime many parents joined with pupils for a whole school picnic in the playground. This was enjoyed by all, particularly the ice cream!
“In the afternoon mums and dads joined in with family activities hosted by our Parental Involvement Team.”
The day finished with a whole-school assembly announcing the winners of the throne building competition, and ending with a stirring rendition of the National Anthem.
