STAFF, pupils and parents at a primary school in South Craven have been doing their bit for the charity Christian Aid.

Kildwick Primary School organised and hosted a Big Breakfast event in the school hall last month (May) to raise money during the 2016 Christian Aid Week.

Interim head teacher Richard Hunt said: "We held our event in the school hall, serving fruit smoothies, juice, milk and breakfast patisseries.

"Parents of school pupils and other family members joined us too.

"We would like to thank parents for all their donations, and the time given up by volunteers.

"I would also like to thank Keelham Farm for donating fruit for our smoothies. This was very generous and showed great community spirit.

"The Reverend Robin Figg held our Monday morning collective worship, during which he explained all about the Christian Aid Charity and the fantastic work it does, all with the aid of worms!"

The charity is using worms to help compost land for vulnerable people in Bangladesh, enabling them to improve the earth they live on so they can keep livestock and grow crops.

Mr Hunt said pupils also used resources from the Christian Aid website in classes throughout the week, which ran from May 15 to 21.
