YOUNGSTERS have visited a Yorkshire Water (YW) treatment works as part of a campaign to boost the number of women working in engineering.
Nearly 300 girls from schools across the region, including Victoria Primary in Keighley, took part in sessions at Headingley.
The children learned about careers in the water industry and were able to quiz female YW employees about their work.
They were then given a guided tour of the plant.
The initiative was held in support of National Women in Engineering Day.
Shilpi Arora, who organised the sessions, said: "We want to inspire female students in primary school and year seven of upper school to consider careers in engineering and also in science, technology and maths.
"We really hope these sessions will encourage female students to consider these roles when they choose their optional subjects a few years down the line."
