CHILDREN from a Silsden primary school have taken part in another successful season of scaling the Yorkshire Three Peaks.

For the 11th consecutive year, pupils from Hothfield Junior School, joined by parents and staff and a party from Addingham Primary, have tackled the mountains both individually and all together during April, May and June.

Mike Carey, the organiser of the walks, said he was delighted with the turn-out on June 18 when youngsters and adults gathered to try and take on all three peaks on the same day.

A spokesman for Hothfield said: "Twelve walkers completed the 26-mile route, including three Silsden children, the youngest of whom is just seven-years-old.

"James Rosser, 7 along with his big sister Holly, 10 and Sophie Hill, also 10, all finished the hike in under 12 hours, qualifying for the Three Peaks Certificate.

"Three further pupils, Daniel Goldie, Charlie Hill and Ebony Jolly, managed to climb two of the three peaks in a day. A fantastic achievement for all of them.

"Teachers at the school, Elisa Woffenden and Becky Carter, have been supporting the walks and want our children to develop a love of the great outdoors while gaining a great sense of achievement.

"They are already looking forward to next year!”
