OXENHOPE Primary School has become an academy.

The 205-pupil school has now formally joined the Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust (BDAT).

It was revealed earlier this year that both Oxenhope and Bradford-based Westminster primaries would be converting to academy status.

The move takes the total number of schools within the trust to seven – five primaries and two secondaries – with two more set to join this year.

Carol Dewhurst, chief executive officer of BDAT, said: "I am really pleased to welcome both Oxenhope and Westminster into the trust.

"We have worked with governors and staff at the schools for a number of months and it is great that they are now officially both part of the BDAT family.

"Our five primaries are already working closely together to support each other's teaching and learning and to provide joined-up, exciting experiences for the children.

"I look forward to watching this partnership and love of learning develop further in the future."

Kathrine Nutting, headteacher at Oxenhope Primary, welcomed the move.

"Our governing body and senior leadership team are very pleased to be part of BDAT," she added.

"We are delighted to be working as part of a trust which values our unique church school character and in close partnership with a group of schools with a shared ethos based on Christian values."
