PARKSIDE School girl Jasmine Colgan is a legendary singer!

The teenager from the Cullingworth school is a member of the Opera North Children’s Chorus which recently performed a Myths and Legends concert.

The concert was staged at Leeds University, Gateshead and the South Bank in London.

The programme included songs from Tolkien's Lord of the Rings and Wagner’s Ring Cycle, and others relating the creation of the Earth according to Norse tradition.

Jasmine won her first classical music singing competition at the age of nine then won a part in Othello with Opera North.

She went on to tour with the company, performing in Leeds, Newcastle, Nottingham and Belfast.

As a member of the Children’s Chorus, Jasmine has sung A Ceremony Of Carols by Benjamin Britten, with the famous opera group Sixteen, and joined an elite group of 20 children working on more complex vocal arrangements.

She was invited to sing for UNICEF in the South of France, an annual event where singers from around the world perform for charity.

Earlier this year Jasmine took a break from concert performances to study for her Royal College of Music exams.
