PARKSIDE School students travelled across the Irish Sea for the school’s second rugby tour.

Around 50 students in four teams travelled to the Isle of Man four games against Ramsey Rugby Union Football Club squads.

The Year 10 squad kicked off the matches with a “resounding” 55–0 victory, but the younger year groups now lost to the well-drilled Ramsey teams.

Students also took part in a number of adventure activities including archery, rifle shooting, and go karting races where the staff team became the overall winners.

The Parkside students’ final day involve matches against the Isle of Man’s other club teams some at the picturesque Fitzwilliam College on the island’ self coast.

The Year 10s again won their match, beating a tough physical ‘Nomads outfit’ with a score of 10-nil.

Parkside staff member Dave Needham said: “This was a hugely successful tour, with students not only excelling on the pitch but demonstrating a wide range of skills including many leadership opportunities.

“Students organised and ran their own fundraising events and were ably supported by local sponsors, MB Alarms of Cullingworth, Carta Sport and New Yorkees of Keighley along with Keighley RUFC, where a number of the youngsters play.”
