STUDENTS from Beckfoot Oakbank School in Keighley performed at a dance festival.

The dance club youngsters – from years seven to nine – joined pupils from across Yorkshire at the event, at York University.

About 700 dancers in total took part, watched by an audience of over 1,400.

"It was an amazing event – filled with energy, enthusiasm and immense talent," said Carol Fleming, developmental leader for performing arts at Beckfoot Oakbank.

"Many thanks go to Emma Smith and Hannah Stubbs for all their support – together we choreographed a seven-minute dance based on the theme 'going global', which successfully displayed the versatility of our young dancers through a mixture of styles, from lindy hop to bollywood, jazz and ballet.

"Our dancers were simply fabulous as they took onboard everything that we threw at them!"

Pupils taking part were Evie Afzal, Millie Bates, Courtney Stoker, Amie Buckley, Tillie Atkins, Olivia Labett, Amy Lorrimer, Emily Robinson, Khiara Akram, Shannon Bartle and Davina Scott.
