CHILDREN from Glusburn Community Primary School recently swam against pupils from six other primary schools in the South Craven Sports Partnership.

The swimming competition saw Glusburn pupil Harry Kaminski come first in the year five/six boys front crawl, while Sam Smith came second in the year five/six boys breaststroke.

The team of Finlay Beckwith, Dougie Clayton, Maxim Syroka and Leo Kaminski came second in both the boys medley and freestyle relays.

Third places were won by Hallie Fitton, Finlay Beckwith, Leo Kaminski and Emily Keys.

School head Richard Hunt said: “Our children recognise the importance of healthy lifestyles and fair competition.”

The Glusburn School football team will playing in the North Yorkshire finals in Tadcaster on March 25.

The year five and six boys will represent the whole Craven area after winning two previous tournaments, competing against the districts of York, Craven, Hambleton, Selby, Ryedale, Harrogate, Richmondshire and Scarborough.
