A KEIGHLEY school has boosted a campaign to provide life-saving defibrillators to sports clubs across the country.

Beckfoot Oakbank staged a quiz night, which raised £1,074 for the Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund.

More than 100 people attended the event, hosted for free by Branshaw Golf Club in Oakworth.

Twenty-five teams competed, with Terry Hollindrake heading the victorious outfit.

"The evening was a great success and we are very grateful to everyone who took part," said a school spokesman.

"We would also like to thank all the local businesses and organisations which donated fantastic raffle prizes."

The defibrillator fund was set up following the death of Keighley Cougars and Wales international half-back Danny Jones, who collapsed and died from an underlying heart condition while playing for the Cougars against London Skolars in May, 2015. He was 29.

The project, launched by Mr Jones' widow Lizzie in conjunction with the RFL Benevolent Fund, has already raised enough money for more than 30 clubs to receive the devices.
