PUPILS at Glusburn Community Primary School created a spectacle – and they were delighted.

Key Stage One youngsters produced designs of eggs wearing spectacles in a competition organised by Airedale Opticians at Cross Hills.

Entries were displayed in the window of the Main Street outlet and on the company's Facebook page.

A spokesman for Airedale Opticians said: "The aim of the competition was to highlight the importance of children's eye tests and we were delighted with the response.

"Designs ranged from chicks bursting out of eggs to ninja rabbits.

"Not only were the eggs voted for by patients, parents and passers-by, but also shared online, with over 20,000 views and some designs receiving more 300 votes!"

Prizes of sunglasses and Easter eggs were presented to the winners.

The designs are still available to view on the Airedale Opticians Facebook page.
