YOUNGSTERS from a Keighley primary school took part in a clean-up at the town's Cliffe Castle.

Pupils from Keighley St Andrew's helped pick-up litter and tidy the grounds of the museum, in Spring Gardens Lane.

The year-five children were accompanied by their class teachers and support staff.

Their effort was part of work towards the Archbishop of York Youth Trust Young Leaders Award.

The citizenship programme enables young people to make a difference in their communities, whilst developing leadership skills.

Both class 5M and 5MC took part in the clean-ups.

Lauren Mooney, 5M class teacher, said: "I was very proud of the children and their efforts.

"The project encourages them to be more involved at home and in the wider community."

The school received an email from Cliffe Castle, praising the children as "brilliant and a credit to the school".
