KILDWICK CE Primary School pupils are buoyant after enjoying a workshop aboard a canal boat.
The Kennet returned to the village as a thank-you to the youngsters for their support last year of celebrations marking the 200th anniversary of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.
In October, the Kennet passed through Kildwick as part of an epic trip recreating the first-ever full navigation of the waterway two centuries earlier.
On its latest visit, the boat hosted a workshop – run by volunteers from the Kennet Project – for class-one and five pupils
Headteacher Tim Whitehead said: "The children learned about lock workings, horse-drawn boats and traditional boat painting and experienced life in the boatman's cabin!
"This was another fantastic opportunity for the pupils to learn about the history of life on the canal and how important it was to our valley."
He thanked the project volunteers.
