PARENTS in South Craven are being urged not to miss out on submitting school place applications for their children.

Families with youngsters currently in year six, who will be transferring from primary to secondary school in September next year, should apply by the end of this month.

So far, just over half of eligible families have made an application.

North Yorkshire County Council warns that late forms could impact on a child's place.

County Councillor Patrick Mulligan, executive member for schools, said: "Families need to get their child's application in as soon as possible.

"If an application is not made on time, families may find it much harder to get their child into a school of their choice."
