THE CAST has been announced for the upcoming production of Calendar Girls The Musical in Leeds.

The Grand Theatre will see the return of Yorkshire musical Calendar Girls, from August 16 to 26, following its successful debut at the theatre last year.

The show boasts the “stellar” line-up of Fern Britton (This Morning), Lorraine Bruce (The Syndicate), Anna-Jane Casey (Billy Elliot), Sara Crowe (Four Weddings and a Funeral), Ruth Madoc (Hi-de-Hi!), Rebecca Storm (Blood Brothers) and Denise Welch (Coronation Street).

Calendar Girls features songs specially written by Take That’s Gary Barlow and a script by Tim Firth, writer of the original film and stage play.

The story was inspired by the true story of the Yorkshire women who appeared naked for a Women’s Institute calendar.

The musical-comedy version shows life in their Yorkshire village, the effect on husbands, sons and daughters, and how a group of ordinary ladies achieved something extraordinary.

Gary Barlow said: “What a phenomenal new cast we have.  Tim and I sat in - and indeed played - on the auditions and have been so lucky to have put together such talented ladies.”
