AN AMERICAN based woman who lectures on the Brontes and their works has completed a new biography of the family.

Karen Smith Kenyon has written The Bronte Family; Passionate Literary Geniuses, which is being published this month by London-based Endeavour Media.

A spokesman for the publishers said: “The Bronte Family is a brief and accessible introduction to the siblings – including Branwell – and how their often difficult lives influenced the sisters’ novels in particular.

“Our aim is to celebrate their legacy during the bicentenaries of their births, with Emily’s this year on July 30, and hopefully to introduce a new generation of readers to the women behind the famous novels.”

Karen Kenyon grew up in Guthrie, Oklahoma, and Sacramento, California.

She has a degree in English, with emphasis on creative writing, and has written many articles and essays.

She has visited England several times, and while at the Bronte Parsonage Museum she found herself drawn to the Brontes and their story.

Karen currently teaches writing in the San Diego area of California.
