AN ANNUAL beef and beer dinner has served up a tasty £42,000 for Manorlands hospice.
More than 260 people attended the event, organised by the Manorlands Challenge Committee.
Guest speaker was Gary Verity, chief executive of tourism agency Welcome to Yorkshire, who entertained with anecdotes about the Tour de France Grand Depart which came through the region in July.
Master of Ceremonies was Charles Dent, managing director of Keighley brewery Timothy Taylor, and an auction was conducted by professional auctioneer Richard Waring.
The meal featured prime sirloin of beef donated by Dovecote Park near Pontefract, and cask ales were provided free by Taylor's.
Rachel Cunningham, a Sue Ryder fundraiser at the Oxenhope hospice, said: "We are once again delighted with the success of this dinner, which has now become an important date on our fundraising calendar.
"The Manorlands Challenge Committee has raised over half a million pounds in its ten-year history and we are so very grateful for its generosity, energy and support."
The dinner was held at the Craiglands Hotel in Ilkley.
