Car scheme seeks recruits

2:34pm Wednesday 9th January 2002

A car service for people with mobility problems in the Borehamwood area is appealing for more volunteer drivers.

The Hertsmere CVS Community Car Scheme, based at Elstree's Allum Hall in Allum Lane, hopes to double its volunteer drivers, from the current 15. The scheme, launched in August last year, helps people who live in Borehamwood, Elstree or Shenley and cannot use public transport to attend medical appointments, at doctors' surgeries, hospitals and dentists.

Ann Donato, the scheme's co-ordinator, is seeking volunteers who can spare a few hours each week or once a fortnight. She added: "The drivers get a lot out of it by meeting people and putting something back into the community."

For further information call Ann Donato on 020 8207 5055.
