Villagers are being urged to dig in to help their community blossom in the Yorkshire in Bloom contest.
East Morton has already had one visit from the judges, in March, and they were impressed with what they saw.
Now organisers of the village’s effort are preparing for the next visit, at 10am, on July 10, and they are seeking help from residents. A series of working parties is planned — on Sunday, May 31 (10am), Saturday, June 6 (10am), Thursday, June 18 (7pm) and Saturday, July 4 (10am).
Anyone able to spare a couple of hours is asked to go along. Gardening knowledge is not necessary. Participants should wear old clothes and gardening gloves and take any tools they may have. The next meeting to discuss the in-bloom campaign is at the Busfeild Arms, on Monday, June 8, at 8pm.
Anyone wanting information, should contact Lee Senior on 01535 618396 or by emailing leeseniorgardening@yahoo.co.uk. To help fund the effort, Morton in Bloom is staging a quiz at the village institute on July 2. The cost is £4 per person, including supper.
Booking forms can be picked-up from the front porch, at 6 Dimples Lane, or phone Karen Redhead on 01274 560279.
