Captain Hook and princess outfits were the order of the day, as hoards of people marched the streets for this year’s Disney-themed Cross Roads gala.

The Gala King and Queen, Andrew McCurry and Brooke Johnson, set the bar for the parade, riding in a Porsche car chauffeur-driven by their Lees Primary School head teacher Jill Holland.

More Lees Primary School children joined the procession walking or riding in transport provided by Keighley Bus Museum, travelling side by side with horses from Haworth Riding for Disabled group and tractors.

Altogether, £1,500 was raised for the Cross Roads Gala Committee to hand out to groups which provide youth provision in the area.

Gala committee chairman Lorraine Clarke said: “Last year we had to cancel because it had rained so much we couldn’t use the field but this year we have triumphed over that. The great thing about the Lees and Cross Roads Gala is that it brings the whole community together. Everybody worked really hard this year to make it a vibrant day.

“I want to say a big thank you to the businesses which, even though they are facing very difficult economic times, still donated excellent prizes for the raffle.”
