Keighley's MP has said Prime Minister David Cameron’s Conservative Party conference pledges show why a Conservative Government is "vital" for Britain's future.

Kris Hopkins highlighted Mr Cameron's commitment to cut tax for 30 million people, protect the NHS budget and negotiate a better deal for Britain in advance of an “in-out” European Union referendum.

Mr Hopkins who is also Local Government Minister, commented following the Prime Minister’s address to the conference last Wednesday. (Oct 1)

He said: "David Cameron has shown why he is the right man to be our Prime Minister and why he must remain in 10 Downing Street after May next year.

“As a result of the tax measures he has announced, more than one million of the lowest paid workers in this country will be taken out of tax altogether, with 30 million more receiving a cut in their tax bills.

“I was particularly struck by the Prime Minister’s words about the NHS. The Conservative-led Government has kept its word and protected the NHS in this Parliament, and this commitment has been re-stated for the next Parliament if we win the General Election.

“I feel passionately about the NHS, which belongs to all of us. It was the Labour Party who gave us the scandal at Mid Staffs where elderly people begged for water and died of neglect."
