HELP may be at hand for a Worth Valley youth club in need of more support.

Worth Valley ward councillor Rebecca Poulsen said she attended a meeting to learn more about Bradford Council's future youth services provision for the ward.

She said she was told the council would be able to provide two youth workers until April next year, who would assist with supervising Oxenhope Youth Club sessions.

"They were reassuring and they did say that this is a very valuable club, particularly as it is in such a rural area," she said. "It isn't easy for youngsters to travel to and from Keighley in the evenings."

Addressing members of Oxenhope Parish Council last Wednesday, (Oct 8) she said there was also the possibility of involvement of college students who are completing youth work placements.

Council deputy chairman, Coun Tony Maw, responded: "The youth club has become very popular in the village. When it resumed for this season 26 young people attended the first session.

"The amount of help the club receives from youth services is a concern. The club wants and needs this support."
