KEIGHLEY primary school pupils attending a harvest festival service have donated packages of food to people in need in both Keighley and Bradford.

The pupils from Riddlesden St Mary's Primary School took part in the service at St Mary's Church.

A spokesman for the school said: "Our pupils enjoyed taking part in the service and learning about people across the world who are less fortunate than ourselves.

"The children kindly donated lots of dried and tinned food. This is to be split between the Keighley Salvation Army branch, who work with the homeless people in our area, and Bevan Health Care.

"Bevan Health Care help those who have come to Bradford as refugees or to seek asylum, as well as others who find it hard to access healthcare."

Children from one of the classes at the school worked together to compose a prayer, which was read out by a pupil during the service earlier this month.

The prayer gave thanks to the farmers responsible for providing food and also recognised how fortunate the pupils were to have access to their own allotments and gardens.
