KEIGHLEY air cadets flew around the track to win their regional athletic competition.

The teenagers from 2431 (Keighley) Squadron came first in the Wing athletics tournament last Sunday (May 15) at the Costello Stadium in Hull.

The contest attracted 400 cadets from 29 Air Training Corps squadrons, including 25 from Keighley, who picked up several individual medals in addition to the prestigious winning shield.

Flying Officer Jordan Cameron, from 2431 Squadron, said: "The cadets were determined to do well this year to improve on their fruitful efforts last year.

“We had a great turnout and it was a superb team effort.

“The staff team are exceptionally proud and the cadets continue to be a credit to the squadron and the organisation."

In the current season the Keighley squadron has taken part in hockey, netball, football, rugby and cross country at a regional level.

The squadron will recruit new members in September. Visit keighleyaircadets.co.uk for further information.
