Craven District Council has approved a request to change the name of Glusburn Parish Council.
In future, it will known as Glusburn and Cross Hills Parish Council, which takes into account the old village of Glusburn and the now larger more developed service centre of Cross Hills.
Chairman Councillor Roger Nicholson, who originally proposed the name change, said: “It brings everything up to date to make sure the public is aware the two villages do exist. It’s something that should have been done years ago.
“Glusburn is the old village but over the years Cross Hills has developed more and more until it became bigger than Glusburn.”
