Bradford Council — Craven
Robert Douglas Beckwith (Labour)Robert is a very experienced science/mathematics teacher at primary and secondary schools.
He is well known locally and has taught at over 100 schools. He is a parent governor at his son's school.
In local government he already has many years' service including being a mayor and leader of a Labour group.
Before starting his teaching career, Robert worked in science and industry, moving from research worker to sales engineer. He has worked on projects, the most significant being the prevention of sea pollution by oil.
Robert played football and captained his village cricket team.
He married late in life and with his wife shares the great joy of a young son and baby daughter.
While in local government Robert has successfully led a campaign to prevent toxic fumes from a paint solvent recycling plant polluting the atmosphere and supported efforts which saved a small local hospital from being closed.
Adrian Naylor (Conservative) Adrian Naylor is married to Clare and has lived in Addingham for 13 years and Silsden for six years.
He is a local businessman involved in the running of pharmacies.
He is a member of Silsden Town Council, where he is currently chairman of planning and is actively involved in protecting the green belt.
Through his business Adrian has a keen interest in health issues and is keen to promote better access to health services in the local area.
Adrian believes that there is a need to reduce the levels of anti-social behaviour and is currently campaigning for an increase in the visible police presence in the ward.
He also feels that there is a need to provide recreational facilities for young people.
Adrian is campaigning for a more integrated transport service for rural communities that would reduce
congestion on our roads, link public transport provision and reduce on-street parking.
Angela Pearson (Lib Dem)Angela, married with two grown-up children and three grandchildren, moved to Addingham in 1998 after 22 years as a teacher in Perthshire.
Now retired, she is involved in her local Methodist church and is a trustee of Ilkley and District CVS, particularly interested in Good Neighbours activities.
She enjoys choral singing, cooking and walking in the Dales.
She supports those campaigning to ensure that all pupils in year six living in priority area one for Ilkley Grammar School are guaranteed a place there, sympathising with the wishes of parents and believing that the issue will affect the future of Addingham itself.
Protecting the environment is one of Angela's top priorities. She wants an increase in the number of police officers, supports local tax to replace the present unfair council tax and supports the Lib Dem campaign to safeguard services to vulnerable people who need help with washing and dressing.
