Bradford Council — Worth Valley
Keith Edward Dredge (Labour)I moved to Haworth in 1989 to work in the local community through the Hall Green Baptist Church.
After seven-and-a-half years I went back to my trade as a skilled machine tool setter/operator.
Once back in industry, I became actively involved in the Amalgamated Engineering Union (now UNITE) and the Keighley Trades Union Council, where I serve as secretary.
After being made redundant twice in four years, I went back to education, successfully completing courses at Keighley College and Leeds University, while working part-time on the nightshift at the Jet petrol station, in South Street, Keighley.
I keep my engineering trade skills alive by renovating a 1963 Morris Minor and building a 5in gauge steam locomotive.
I now work at Rhodes Hardware, in Haworth, while studying for a PhD degree on the history of Keighley at the University of Leeds.
Betts Fetherston (Green)No information supplied.
Sam Harris (Lib Dem)Sam Harris, 34, has lived in the Bradford district for almost 16 years.
He studied business at Bradford and Ilkley Community College and Staffordshire University.
Sam's interests are computers, history, English literature and going to the theatre.
He works with adults with learning difficulties, as a part-time lecturer in computing.
Sam supports the local provision of adult education.
Having grown up on the edge of London, Sam greatly appreciates the natural beauty of this area and is keen to preserve it.
He believes that the quality of local public services should reflect the Worth Valley's status as a major tourist attraction.
Kris Hopkins (Conservative) Kris was born in 1963 and lives in Oakworth. He is married to Kersten.
A former member of the Duke of Wellington's Regiment, Kris was first elected to represent Worth Valley on Bradford Council in 1998.
He became portfolio holder for social services and council housing, before taking on the corporate portfolio.
His achievements over this period included the delivery of housing stock transfer, the creation of Bradford Care Trust and the provision of five new children's homes.
Kris was chosen as deputy leader of Bradford Council in 2004 and, two years later, was elected leader of the council and leader of the Conservative group.
He is also chairman of the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Housing Board.
In his spare time, Kris is a feverishly active walker and runner and a capable photographer with published shots among his credits.
Additionally, Kris is the Conservative parliamentary candidate for Keighley and Ilkley.
