Musician looks for fellow disco revellers to attend Greenhead Grammar School reunion

When you were a teenager in the late 1970s did you attend Greenhead Grammar School and head to East Morton with vodka in your bag?

If the answer is yes, then Keighley musician Roger “Trotwood” Nowell – one of those revellers – wants to hear from you.

He is organising a reunion for anyone who used to attend discos he organised at Morton Memorial Institute for the village’s under-17s football team.

He went on to play with 1980s goth band Skeletal Family and was later a roadie for Oasis and guitar technician for Paul Weller.

Roger said: “The discos were a great success. The seven o’clock Morton bus would be packed on disco night.

“Of course there will be a licensed bar now, not pop and crisps. You can get into the Busfeild Arms legally and you don’t need to hide your bottle of vodka in your handbag.”

The reunion will be in the institute on Saturday, November 24, from 7.30pm. Tickets cost £5. For details, see the Facebook page Morton Disco Reunion.
