The lighting of Silsden’s Christmas tree brought this year’s successful festive market to an end on Sunday.

Silsden gala queen Naomi Nicholson turned on the lights and Silsden Band played Christmas carols.

Throughout the afternoon crowds of people browsed the outdoor stalls around the centre of Silsden, as well as in the nearby town hall.

Many local shops also opened, including Cafe Cake in Briggate, which had an array of home-made cakes outside.

The town hall offered crafts and cooking, with stalls selling a multitude of home-made products. On sale were pickles, jewellery, Christmas cakes, cards, knitted goods, decorations, peg bags and pinnies showcasing the talents of local people.

Market-themed stalls were scattered around Briggate and the Punchbowl car park, with hot and cold refreshments available.

There was a fairground ride outside, and children could also visit Santa Claus in his grotto. Market organisers thanked local people who supported the event.
