Community First cash deadline

Groups in parts of Keighley have until January 3 to apply for cash from the latest round of Community First funding.

Organisations across Keighley West ward can bid for cash from the £67,000 fund for a range of community projects and activities.

A panel of local people will look at applications from neighbourhoods including Braithwaite, Exley Head, Fell Lane, Laycock and Bracken Bank.

Applicants will have to attend a panel meeting to outline their project and answer questions.

Community First is a Government fund for deprived areas, administered by people living or working in each area, and runs until 2015.

Grants in the first year went to streetwise football at Oakbank School, hut improvements for Fell Lane Scouts, volunteer training at Haworth Riding for the Disabled and over-50s’ activities in Bracken Bank.

Recent grants paid for outdoor activities for Brownies, skills training in Braithwaite and homework and work clubs in Bracken Bank.

Details of how to apply for grants are available from keighleywest@hotmail.co.uk or call 01535 665258.
