Playground scheme plans are revealed for Oakworth

Blueprints have been revealed for a proposed new £75,000 play area at Holden Park, Oakworth.

Villagers are currently waiting for the outcome of a bid for funding to environmental charity Wren.

The playground project was spearheaded by Oakworth resident Jo Spencer, who was concerned about the state of the park’s existing playground.

She worked closely with Bradford Council’s recreation department, which drew up potential designs, and the Friends of Holden Park.

The design was finalised after children at Oakworth Primary School and local uniformed groups voted for their favourite option.

The playground will include swings, a climbing net, seesaw, roundabout, springy toys and activity units combining slides, tunnels and climbing frames.

There will be ground markings for hopscotch, handprints, letters and numbers.

The outcome of the bid is expected to be known by the end of next month and, if successful, work could be completed by this summer.
