Blaze is extinguished

A car blaze was extinguished by the vehicle’s owner before firefighters arrived.

A fire engine from the Keighley station responded to the incident at midnight on Tuesday.

But crew commander Peter Hanson said the blaze was out by the time the team reached the scene, in Exley Road, Keighley.

“The owner of the Renault had called us, but he was able to put the fire out with a dry powder extinguisher,” he said. “He wasn’t hurt, but the front part of the car was badly damaged.”

It is unclear at this stage how the fire started.
