Two men are on trial at Bradford Crown Court accused of raping and assaulting schoolgirls after picking them up in the street and plying them with drink and drugs.

The vulnerable underage girls were targeted in Keighley and taken to hotels where they were abused while scared and out of their depths, it is alleged.

One 14-year-old girl suffered multiple rapes at the hands of both men, the jury was told.

Shazad Rehman, 30, boasted his victims were “fresh meat”, it is alleged.

Rehman, of no fixed address, said if he got the girls young, he could “keep them forever”, prosecutor Michelle Colborne QC alleged.

Rehman and Bilal Hussain, 23, of Neville Road Avenue in Leeds, are accused of pursuing teenage girls in 2010 and 2011, mainly in the Keighley area.

“They acted together, travelling from their various home addresses in Leeds and Halifax to Keighley town centre, where they specifically targeted vulnerable girls, all under age,” Miss Colborne said.

She told the court the men exploited the girls’ lack of maturity and life experience, using strong drink and drugs to render them more compliant.

Miss Colborne said the girls were needy, with difficulties at home and school and seeking attention. They were told they “would have fun and that they were special”.

Rehman and Hussain cruised the streets in a silver Audi, using the names Yaz and Naz, the court heard.

It is alleged girls were taken to the Campanile Hotel in Roysdale Way on the Euroway industrial estate in Bradford and the Alder House Hotel at Batley.

Miss Colborne said the men knew how young the girls were. Teenagers would go missing from home for days with the defendants.

It is claimed three girls were raped and one sexually molested. One was raped by both men in one night and then mocked the next day by Hussain, it is alleged.

The jury was told the girls would be “stoned” on cannabis and alcohol. One was so drunk she crawled round on her hands and knees. Another was so incapable a cannabis joint was rolled on her back.

Rehman pleaded not guilty to six charges of rape and two of sexual assault.

Hussain denies five allegations of rape and one of common assault.

Both men deny seven charges of supplying cannabis to underage girls, one of offering to supply the drug and one of possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

A third defendant, Raksar Nawaz, of Rhodes Street in Halifax, has pleaded not guilty to arranging or facilitating the commission of a sexual assault on a child. Rehman, Hussain and Yassar Adalat, 31, of Milton Place in Halifax, all deny witness intimidation.

Miss Colborne said police and school support staff discovered two 14-year-old girls had been repeatedly picked up by ‘Yaz and Naz’ during four to six weeks, driven round and given alcohol and cannabis.

They said they were taken to hotels – one of them up to ten times – and forced to engage in sexual activity.

Miss Colborne said girls were picked up in Keighley town centre, Lund Park in the town and in Halifax.

One was struck with a wet flip-flop by Hussain after he had raped her at the Alder House Hotel, it was stated.

When one girl told Hussain she was pregnant, he ordered her to get rid of the child or he would kill it himself, Miss Colborne told the jury. The trial continues.
