Community groups get chance to win 'Dragon's Den' funding

South Craven community groups are being invited to bid for funding at a Dragons’ Den-style event.

Five ‘Dragons’ will hand out grants totalling £2,250 for projects to benefit young people and improve the community.

The March 4 event, being staged by Craven Council at its offices in Skipton, will mirror the hit BBC show.

Hopefuls will pitch their ideas to district councillors John Roberts and Linda Brockbank, Stacey Mitchell from Craven Community Safety Partnership, Sue Duncan from Yorkshire Housing and a Craven Youth Council representative.

Groups can apply for up to £500.

Application forms can be downloaded from cravendc.gov.uk/dragonsden2013 and are also available at libraries, Skipton Youth Centre and the Craven Council offices. Closing date is February 15.

A similar event last year was a huge success, with cash being distributed to four groups.
