Silsden farmer launches new turbines bid

A Silsden farmer wants to build two wind turbines on his farm to make it more sustainable.

Simon Spence, of Bank End Farm, has applied to Bradford Council for two 20-metre-tall turbines, each of which he says would prevent up to 30 tonnes of carbon dioxide entering the atmosphere every year.

His application says the turbines would make the dairy farm cheaper to run, ensuring its future.

An application for a 15-metre-high turbine at the farm was refused by Bradford Council last year, but that refusal was later overturned on appeal.

The council will decide on the latest application in March.
