Cullingworth butcher's surge in sales, thanks to horse meat crisis
9:00am Thursday 14th February 2013 in Keighley By Keighley News reporter
John Ellison
A Cullingworth butcher has seen trade soar thanks to the horse meat crisis.
Ellisons says business overall has risen by ten per cent, while sales of beefburgers have rocketed by 30 per cent.
John Ellison, for the firm, said the horse meat scandal had hit consumer confidence in supermarket products.
Ellisons is a member of the Q Guild, a group of leading independent butchers.
Mr Ellison said: “We can’t believe how many beefburgers are flying off our shelves.
“More and more customers are coming through the door – this has been a real win for not only us but the Q Guild as a whole.
“Our meat is sourced from local farms and we pride ourselves on this. Our burgers are not only homemade and totally tasty, but 100 per cent free from horse meat.”
Sales figures from all Q Guild members indicate shoppers are heading back to the high street following the scare.
Q Guild chairman, Brindon Addy, said: “Since the horse meat scandal hit the news, consumers have become aware there isn’t transparency in purchasing meat, in particular burgers, from supermarkets.
“This isn’t the case with Q Guild butchers, who can show the provenance of all the products they sell. We pride ourselves on being able to deliver from farm to plate and knowing each step of that process.”

Cullingworth is in the Keighley area, as is Haworth, Oxenhope, etc but thankfully not under the financial yoke of Keighley Town Council and it’s high precept rises.
May I therefore suggest that, possibly you, as a loyal and subservient member of the ‘‘Love Keighley Town Council High Rates’ group ask the KTC’s hugely financial wasteful Management and Staffing Committee for lots of money, a really for large and expensive gold covered map.
I think you will be surprised at what you see.

Keighley Market has a gem in Kitchermans at the end past the cafe, well worth a try.
Supermarkets have been fooling us for years, only use them for tins ect, rather cook my own food and grow what I can. I am away allot, so having a friendly neighbour to do some watering is great.
I am glad that local butchers are enjoying a renaissance, let us hope the public have learned the lesson.

How you and your friends can sleep at night with a clear conscience is beyond my comprehension.
Whilst I and others have tried to reveal the financial truth of what we believe to be KTC’s misdemeanours you are your colleagues have, on numerous times blocked our revelations, with your beer swilling tales and stand pies comments, that had nothing at all to do with the reality of what sensible people might consider to be malfeasance by your friends in KTC.

All we need now is ’Grit Bit’ man the Joker and Cougar-man, and your fully operational to attack the good precept payers of Keighley, who are fighting hard the ineptitude, of what I and an increasing number of financially hard pressed people believe is an organization of no-hopers.
These no-hopers refuse to pay large suns of money owed to Bradford while spending Ratepayer money on high staff salaries, and frivolities, such as £3000 for the indoors Christmas lights. (Ratepayers outside the Civic Centre couldn’t see their money burning away.)
Tell your friends at KTC to arrange to meet with a Debt Councillor as soon as possible.
Is one still in the Civic Centre?
What hypocrites you and your friends are in KTC jimmy k.

Your past postings, as I've already stated have as much validity as the propaganda from KTC which states the the Civic Centre is in profit! (Flying Pigs comes to mind jimmy K)
Prove to me that water is wet jimmy k, and I'll belive that you are fit to be Mayor of Keighley.

My brother is coming to visit in late March and already has a shopping list. No meat pies but tea bags, gravy granules and Heinz salad cream.
I agree Lunds pies were and I understand are still up there with the best.

What it comes down to is does the consumer want to pay 99p or a fiver for the same stuff.
