Keighley car firm shows its bottle with whiff of new venture

Exhaust-ive trials and wheely good research have led a leading Keighley car company to go hell for leather in producing a new manly fragrance women will never tyre of!

Colin Appleyard is launching what it describes as ‘Britain’s manliest ever aftershave’, which is designed to give men the delightful aroma of the inside of a new car!

The firm, which has been in the car and motorcycle sales business for more than 40 years, has indicated a move into the world of men’s grooming with its ‘Car Smell Aftershave’ product.

According to retired Grand Prix motorcycle racer and business chairman, Colin Appleyard, the new fragrance topped the list of smells people find irresistible.

And he’s convinced the top gear will put men in the driving seat when it comes to wooing the ladies!

“It was only right we bottled it,” he said. “One whiff is enough to send anybody weak at the knees.

“There’s nothing like the smell of a new car. It’s all about that magical feeling of driving your new purchase off the forecourt, happily cocooned in new leather and polish.

“I’ve driven scores of new cars, and it’s a thing you can never get tired of.”

Mr Appleyard said a survey by his company found the great smell of a car featured in a list of favourite British fragrances, alongside more commonly cited smells, such as that of newly-cut grass, home baking, a Sunday roast and fresh flowers.

A spokesman for Colin Appleyard, which has its local car dealership in Halifax Road, said the aftershave should be available to buy at branches in about a month’s time.

He added the product has been developed during the past three months, but there are currently no plans to offer it for sale in supermarkets or high street retailers.

Don't want to comment on this story but would like to ask new mr. ed. why are so few stories unavailable to comment on?i can understand there are certain stories for legal reasons we can't but the vast majority are unavailable for comment, not even the letters page.and you advertise in the hard copy of the paper that people can do this!Yet here is 1 story you can comment on which lets face it is not a news story but a free advert.

The whole online news pages have been a mess for a long time, why do we need all the Keighley villages etc lumped in one by one in the middle of the news pages? Also I checked out the Memory Lane page yesterday and there was an article on a bloke from Riddlesdan who's garden wall has fallen down.
Come on Mr Ed, if you are going to have a website get a real website geek who knows how to build a site.

I find this website rather boring, as I do the actual paper.
It should have a Page 3 girl,(doesn't have to be topless by the way!)
The sport pages should also incorporate national sport and not just local.
Oh, by the way, I hope Bradford City win the Capital One Cup at Wembley tomorrow!

Well you know why, if you allow comment on " certain topics " it all gets a bit hot, so the site is taken down.

Not much to comment on really, maybe there are too many cars on the road, we seem to have our fair share of taxi cabs also, hence the conflict of interest in Church Green.

As above, good advert for more cars, anyone up for buying one ?

You seem to be able to write a great deal on beef pies, booze and the worlds problems in these postings, yet I've never noticed your literary prose in the letter page of the Keighley News, is it cause you’re shy?

The ‘Muppet’ has returned, with his usual meaty sly insults.

However not being a pie eater, or beer drinker myself, I have to hand it to the Muppet, that even if he can’t spell my name, he can, when on a rant, correct my mistake, however food seems to be his favourite subject at KTC meetings, but then it’s the ratepayers money so the motto seems to be for KTC members.
‘Who cares, let’s eat, drink and spend on seaside trips’ Muppet, grow up!

There are far more serious problems in Keighley than meat pies, or beef pies!

Before you go off on another of your rants, Muppet, it was jimmy k who moved the threads of these comments, once again!

dennisnilsen, I don’t have any idea if your comments were an attack on those of us who require an open dialogue with the hierarchy of KTC or are you just another KTC member fighting a losing rearguard battle for no reason.

Today, at last, many people are now starting to believe a truth I have been saying for many years, that KTC was creating a huge financial problem, which in my opinion, was due to a total lack of basic financial commonsense in its hierarchy.

Mr Forsyth and your ever expanding, enquiring group of members, who seemingly have brought much needed financial forensic attitude to play at last to this scene of cataclysmic disaster, my thanks.

I had as is already known, warned, and had been laughed and spat at because of my comments, which were that the Civic Centre, was to be a total disaster, just waiting to happen.

The wheels are at last falling off the cart of KTC Civic Centre plaything, due, in part to the inevitability of the stupidity of those in charge of the catastrophe and more importantly the ability of your own and your groups awareness of the financial inability of KTC to even buy a box of matches without getting burnt.

Please pass on, to your group the thanks of the majority of Keighley constituents.

May I suggest Mr Forsyth your group now cuts off the head of this situation and so end this lamentable and unnecessary expensive saga.

Ps, I’m pleased others think of you as my ‘nom deplume’, sadly for me, it shows the limited intelligenge of the Muppet!

An aftershave that smells of new cars? Surely the only people that will be impressed with the smell will be other men?
