Keighley special school minibus campaign goes mobile

People can now use their mobile phones to donate to a Keighley special school’s minibus appeal.

The text initiative has been set up in support of Phoenix School’s campaign to buy a specially-adapted vehicle, which will enable pupils in wheelchairs to take part in trips out.

Donors should start their message FOPS11, followed by £ and the amount of money – for example FOPS11 £10 – and then send it to 70070.

People can also give online by going to justgiving.com and searching for Friends of Phoenix Special School.

The Braithwaite Avenue school’s appeal has so far raised £12,400, which includes £400 given anonymously by a charity. But more than £4,000 is still needed.

The school has staged numerous fundraising events and more are planned, including a group of people plan to walk the route of Hadrian’s Wall – more than 80 miles long – to raise money through sponsorship.

Other fundraisers being organised in support of the appeal include a fun day at Cafe Hope in Central Hall, Alice Street, Keighley, between 11am and 2pm on March 2. It will feature a wide range of attractions for people of all ages.

And an event takes place at the Rainbow Children’s Centre in Braithwaite Grove on April 8, from 10.30am to noon, including stalls, a tombola, raffle, children’s crafts and competitions.

Also, part of the proceeds of a Grand Night Out at Octagon Live in Sandbeds on March 23 will be donated to the cause. Tickets are £6. Visit youknowyouvelivedin-keighleywhen.com for further information.
