Keighley good causes in new fund boost

Good causes in Keighley could benefit from the ambitious new Bradford District Community Fund.

The scheme was launched last week at City Hall in Bradford with 50 guests from the public, private and voluntary sectors.

Also launched was the fund’s first initiative, a £21,000 grants programme for local community groups and charities concerned with children and young people.

One of the fund’s main functions is to raise money for distribution to local groups and charities. The other is to build an endowment fund to provide a periodic income to be distributed to good causes.

Philip Cavalier-Lumley, the fund’s development manager, said the young people’s programme had already received £5,000 from Saltaire-based Pace PLC.

He added: “The BDCF is off to a flying start already making such a positive impact in our communities throughout the district, and there is so much more we can do.
