Keighley Bradford City fan’s YouTube song proves a hit

A former Keighley man has written a song to celebrate his beloved Bradford City going to Wembley.

Alix Shepherd hopes his song – Wembley Way – will inspire fans as the team plays Swansea City in the Capital One Cup final on Sunday.

An accompanying video, filmed by Alix and his friends in Bradford, has been watched more than 2,600 times on YouTube.

Long-time Bradford City and Keighley Cougars fan Alix, 27, grew up in Keighley before moving to Newcastle for his studies aged 18. He plays keyboards with band Peculiar Disco Moves.

Alix wrote and recorded Wembley Way (City Marching Down) with bandmate Jonathan Proud.

Alix then filmed the video in and around Bradford with former Keighley man Jamie Boswell and other friends from the town.

Alix said: “It’s probably the only chance I’ll get to write a cup song. I’ve supported Bradford City most of my life. It was a bit of fun and it’s gone down well.”
