Tackling fuel costs of Keighley people

An event to help tackle fuel poverty in Keighley will be held next week.

The three-hour session on February 28, which will take place at Central Hall in Alice Street, will explore practical solutions to soaring energy bills and examine topics such as oil buying co-operatives. Ten local and regional organisations are involved in the initiative.

Ash Alom, of Keighley and Ilkley Voluntary and Community Action, said: “With rising fuel costs for people trying to heat their homes, it’s becoming ever more important to have this conversation and raise this as an issue.

“More and more people are finding it very difficult to heat their homes – particularly the elderly and the vulnerable.

“We’re organising this free event to help people understand what their options are, and where they may be able to go for help.”

To book a place at the session, which runs from 10am to 1pm, contact Mr Alom at ash@kivca.org.uk or on 01535 665258.
