Members of the public were given a chance to learn about a form of Buddhism in Keighley town centre.
They were invited to an open day at the Buddha Land Centre and World Peace Cafe in Lawkholme Crescent.
The event included guided meditation, tours of the premises, talks about what it means to be a Buddhist monk or nun, and presentations about what Buddhism has to offer the modern world.
Kelsang Paljin, one of the monks at the centre who helped run the Saturday’s event, said: “It has gone very well – it’s a good opportunity for newcomers to find out about us.
“We try to have one open day every year. We’ve had a base in Keighley for 11 years now, and though we don’t have a signed up membership, there are about 20 people at the core of the centre.”
Mr Paljin explained he and other people involved with the centre followed Kadampa Buddhism, which is derived from a school of Tibetan Buddhism.
He said the emphasis was on how to become a better person, rather than strict rules governing diet and daily routine.
