Keighley group fundraising for Lourdes trip
12:00pm Tuesday 12th March 2013 in Keighley
A Keighley group that has taken young people on an annual pilgrimage to Lourdes for more than four decades is once again heading to the French shrine.
Group 58 – the local branch of the Handicapped Children’s Pilgrimage Trust – began its Easter trips in 1969.
The cost of taking each youngster has spiralled over the years but the group, through fundraising efforts and donations, covers the outlay itself.
Pam Jessop, who has been involved in Group 58 since the start, said: “This year we have six youngsters with special needs going and we have to raise £750 to cover the costs for each. We would love to hear from anyone – individuals or businesses – willing to offer support.”
The group departs on the Easter weekend.
A fundraising coffee morning with stalls will be held at Our Lady of Victories School in Guard House on March 17, from 10am to noon. Entry is 50p, including tea or coffee.
Mrs Jessop can be contacted on (01535) 664999.
