Oxenhope home plan is withdrawn

New plans to build a home next to Oxenhope’s Leeming Reservoir have been withdrawn.

The application was due to go before Keighley & Shipley Area Planning Panel yesterday morning, but officers revealed the owner of the land, Steve Taylor, had withdrawn the proposals the day before.

Mr Taylor had submitted plans for a new property on the site of a previous application for a modern ‘eco-home’, which was refused by Bradford planners.

The design statement with his latest application said the development would preserve the character and appearance of Leeming Conservation Area through sympathetic use of local materials.

But Oxenhope Parish Council and district council planning officers recommended the new proposals for refusal. The application also provoked opposition from dozens of residents, who said it would destroy wildlife habitat and cause highway safety problems.
