Tory district councillor Debbie Davies – former wife of Shipley MP Philip Davies – is expecting a baby, it has been revealed.

She and fellow Baildon LibDem politician Ian Lyons, who have been in a relationship for several months, have told their respective party colleagues the child is due in September.

Coun Davies and her husband, whose constituency includes Cullingworth and Denholme, separated in 2011 due to work pressure and distance, and their divorce was finalised in November last year.

Mr Davies’s main residence is in Shipley, but he also shares a London flat with his fellow Conservative MP and former TV presenter Esther McVey (Wirral West).

He is the parliamentary spokes-man for the Campaign Against Political Correctness.

Meanwhile, Coun Davies remained in Baildon with their two sons, aged eight and ten, and continues to politically support Mr Davies by working as his part-time secretary.

Dad-of-one Mr Lyons, 33, a former sergeant in the Royal Corps of Signals, left the army after a parachuting accident in 2009.

He caused controversy by forcing a parish council election that cost £10,000 in order to win his Baildon seat last year.

A ‘green’ Lib Dem, he describes himself on his website and Facebook as a vegetarian and animal-lover, devoted to democracy and peace.

It is understood he has previously considered standing against Mr Davies in the next general election, scheduled for 2015. Currently studying politics at Bradford University, he is also a part-time HGV driver.
