A Keighley charity is pleased with the response to its volunteer appeal.
Keighley Volunteer Centre (KVC) hosted an information day in the Airedale Shopping Centre to tie in with national Volunteers’ Week.
The aim was to find people interested in giving their time free for a wide range of organisations and services.
KVC manager, Gary Pedley, said almost 50 people took up the offer of a free coffee from nearby Greggs as they looked through information leaflets.
He added: “Nine or ten of them signed up to see an advisor. We will get details of their interests and match them to appropriate organisations.
“Lots of other people came past and took information, which could translate into more volunteers. There’s always a need for volunteers.”
KVC currently has more than 500 volunteers on its books, and supports 300 organisations.
Staff from Keighley and Ilkley Voluntary Committee Action were also at the information day to showcase their opportunities.
