Religious Question Time at Keighley Catholic school
5:10pm Tuesday 13th August 2013 in Keighley
A Keighley Catholic school that draws many of its students from the Muslim population staged a Question Time-style event to foster dialogue between different religions.
The session was held at Holy Family Catholic School and attended by an audience of 150 pupils.
A school spokesman said: “Omar Khan represented the Islamic faith and monsignor Andrew Summersgill was present on behalf of the Roman Catholic faith.
“The ‘Dimbleby chair’ was taken by PC Paul Sullivan, who is a community liaison officer with West Yorkshire Police.
“Questions from younger children had been pre-prepared, and there were also a good number of sixth formers and adults present.
“The topics ranged from the role of women, through to religious aspects of clothing, revelation and the origin of holy books.”
