Keighley MP backs students’ campaign for quality education around the world
10:10am Wednesday 14th August 2013 in Keighley
Keighley teenagers have shown the campaign for more teachers around the world is more than just hot air.
The University Academy Keighley students were joined by Keighley MP Kris Hopkins in launching more than 100 helium balloons.
Each balloon carried a handwritten message promoting the importance of a campaign for an education for every child in the world.
Students at the academy spent several weeks working on the Every Child Needs A Teacher campaign.
They produced visual material, wrote campaign letters, produced presentations, created teacher effigies and made a display.
Mr Hopkins was presented with a selection of campaign materials to pass on to Parliament.
Mr Hopkins also visited St Joseph’s School at Ingrow to talk to pupils there about the campaign.
The campaign is run by the UK coalition of the Global Campaign for Education, which works in more than 100 countries to ensure quality education for all children.
